Shingle Roofing

Asphalt roof shingles are the most popular roofing choice in America today.  Shingle roofs have numerous advantages when compared to other roofing options.  Advantages of shingle roofs include:  maintenance/repairs, durability, installation, attractive appearance and economical cost.

Maintenance/Repairs
Many roof materials require frequent maintenance to ensure longevity. Asphalt shingle roofs look good for decades, with minimal maintenance. Should there be a problem, shingle roof repairs are generally fairly minor and easily accomplished.  When shingle roofs begin losing excessive amounts of granules and/or the shingles start to curl, it’s time to consider replacing the roof.

Durability
Shingle roofs are very durable.  Manufacturers provide material warranties ranging from 20 years to lifetime of the purchaser.  There are four major shingle manufacturers - GAF, Owens Corning, TAMKO, CertainTeed – and they all manufacture quality products which we’re proud to install. 

Installation
Another advantage of asphalt roof shingles is installation.  A typical shingle roof can be installed within days by a professional crew.  Generally, a new shingle roof may be installed over an existing single-layer shingle roof, but this may not be the best option.  The existing roof should be evaluated to assess the most cost-effective option.  If tear-off of the existing shingle roof is warranted, this is generally accomplished within a day.

Appearance
Shingles are flexible and sturdy, and are compatible with many roof designs.  Shingles are available in a wide variety of textures, colors and styles.  It’s almost a certainty that there is a shingle color that will enhance the look of your home.  Some types of asphalt roof shingles are manufactured to look like more expensive, natural materials.  The result is a shingle roof that has the look of cedar shakes, slate, tile or even wood.This provides the advantage of a more expensive look, while retaining the durability and longevity of asphalt roof shingles.

Economical
Asphalt shingle roofs are inexpensive relative to other types of roofing materials. This provides opportunity to obtain a more expensive appearance even while keeping costs under control.  Also, because shingles are relatively light-weight, they can be installed on virtually any roof structure.
